Two fully automated stations provide the transhipment of bulk cargo from broad gauge wagons to standard gauge wagons:
- Transhipment Centre West
- Transhipment Centre East
Annual transhipment capacity during continuous operations is 4.8 million tonnes. These centres handle the transhipment of iron ore pellets, fines, concentrate ores, coal and coke. Wagon tipplers are the primarily technical elements of both centres. Unloading goods using wagon tipplers significantly reduces the damage to broad gauge wagons and quickens the pace of transhipment operations. Standard gauge wagons are staged during loading on a static rail scale that provides certified weights, wagon tare measurements, the net weight of loaded substrates and the final gross wagon weight. The use of an moving conveyor ensures the even distribution of goods in the loaded wagon. The direct transhipment system is automated and the control system is operated from the operating centre - control room, by two operators. To secure environment-friendly operations, centres are equipped with a water curtain technology and a ventilation system.
Another advantage of transhipment is the ability to provide antifreezing application for the purpose of protecting them temporarily from freezing in the winter months, which helps the final customer substantially shorten the defrosting process in their defrosting halls and wagon unloading times. Transhipment Centre West also has a customs warehouse with a surface area of 5,418 m². This permits the storage of bulk materials subject to customs supervision of up to 50,000 tonnes.
