General cargo are handled at a designated area: East Ramp – Portal Crane

The double-decker portal crane supports direct transhipment from broad gauge wagons to standard gauge wagons and vice versa and indirect transhipment with storage or transhipment to and from trucks. The telescopic traverse with four electromagnets facilitates the transhipment of ingots up to 35 tonnes, coil products and scroll sheets. Depending on requirements, one of four different grapple attachments may be fitted to tranship wood or bulk cargo.

The portal crane expands the range of company commodity transhipment services with the ability to tranship goods with customs supervision. The crane handles goods along a 600 m-long track. Load capacity for the main lift is 50 t and the secondary lift has a capacity of 12.5 t. An 8-m side boom from the south side permits the unloading of goods on a new surface measuring 5,000 m² paved with panels. The surface of the ramp itself offers another 7,200 m² of usable storage space for transhipped goods.

The establishment and operation of a customs warehouse gives the company the ability to store goods subject to customs supervision without the need for customs and other fees that otherwise are due upon the importation of these goods into the European Union.
